It’s the Road to Memphis Benefit. We expect to see you all at BB’s Jazz, Blues & Soups, downtown St. Louis, on Sunday, December 10th, from 3 pm until 6 pm. Join the St. Louis Blues Society in celebrating the two groups who will be representing St. Louis at the 2018 International Blues Challenge: Torrey Casey & The Southside Hustle and Kingdom Brothers Duo. Funds from the event will help support the musicians’ trip to Memphis.

Located just one block south of Busch Stadium, BB’s Jazz, Blues & Soups, part music club, part blues museum, features the best in great blues and jazz seven nights a week. Since its original construction in the mid 1800’s, in an area then known as “Frenchtown” with a further 3 story addition at the turn of the century, the location has been used as a home, boarding house, reception hall, mercantile, millinery, transient hotel, bar, diner and house of ill repute with 37 rooms between its 2nd and 3rd floors.  Brimming with enthusiasm, BB’s Jazz, Blues & Soups is proud of their staff, the St. Louis music and culture, the food, the drinks, the artworks, the memorabilia – the whole overall operation.

The St. Louis Blues Society is dedicated to preserving and perpetuating blues music in and from St. Louis, while fostering its growth and appreciation. The St. Louis Blues Society provides blues artists the opportunity for public performance and individual improvement in their field, all for the educational and artistic benefit of the general public.

Torrey Casey & the Southside Hustle, the winners of this year’s St. Louis Blues Society’s local band competition for the International Blues Challenge provides “an old school sound with a new school feel…bringing soul grooves to bars and venues across the city.” With the one-two punch of vocalists Torrey Casey and Teec’a Easby, and featuring Casey’s signature guitar work, the Southside Hustle band includes the formidable trio of Alex Sinclair on keyboards, Donnell Robinson on drums, and Brad Waller on bass.

This event marks the second trip to Memphis and the IBC for the winners of the solo/duo competition – singer-songwriter Chris Shepherd and lead/slide guitarist Ron Roskowske. As a five-piece blues band, Kingdom Brothers earned the trip in 2015, when they advanced to the semi-final round, performing three nights on Beale Street. The duo will be performing many of the band’s fan favorites, including tunes from their latest CD, TIMES HARD
